So, Texas State was lucky enough to host the Combat Paper Project a week or so ago. They are an amazing group of artists from the Northeast that travels the country working with veterans to turn their uniforms into art. Here is a snippet from their website:
"Through papermaking workshops veterans use their uniforms worn in combat to create cathartic works of art. The uniforms are cut up, beaten into a pulp and formed into sheets of paper. Veterans use the transformative process of papermaking to reclaim their uniform as art and begin to embrace their experiences in the military."
They told us that their time at Texas State was one of their busiest on campus experiences, with over 30 student vets coming to work on projects. Malachi was the genius behind bringing them to campus, so a huge shout out to him for taking the initiative to bring them here. Thank you so much Malachi!
